Agfa HealthCare has announced that it has won a competitive tender for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Health Directorate. A three-plus-four-year contract has been signed to supply the Enterprise Imaging platform for the territory-wide healthcare network. The project kicked off in July, 2017, with an expected go-live in the first quarter of 2018.
ACT Health provides health services to locations across the Australian Capital Territory, including the Canberra Hospital, Calvary Hospital, the new University of Canberra Public Hospital, smaller, non-tertiary facilities, and in-reach services for private residences.
In 2016, ACT Health released a public tender for a system to replace its end-of-life radiology information system/picture archiving and communication system (RIS/PACS). The tender requirements included an intuitive workflow, internal and external messaging capability, access for external stakeholders, ability to develop and scale into the future, seamless integration, migration of existing imaging data, and training and support. After a lengthy evaluation process, Agfa HealthCare was nominated as the preferred supplier early in 2017, with the final agreement for the Enterprise Imaging solution signed on July 10, 2017.
The Enterprise Imaging platform creates a comprehensive imaging ecosystem that enables the enterprise’s images to be available to all involved caregivers across the care continuum.
The project includes connectivity to more than 60 modalities and the migration of 3 million studies and will involve a range of users including Radiologists, Technologists, Clerical and Scheduling staff, Clinicians, System Administrators and Business Managers.
ACT Health Medical Imaging Manager, Mr. Mark Duggan, said “ACT Health is excited by the opportunities this new technology presents for the organisation, their staff and patients. ACT Health is focussed on delivering quality health care to the Canberra community and surrounding region. As part of this, we are always exploring innovative digital solutions to deliver services more efficiently. The new Agfa HealthCare Enterprise Imaging system is a great example of this and will deliver significant improvements to the delivery of care for our patients and clinicians.”
