HTN 100: NHS Digital, Omnicell, EQL, Patchwork and Skills for Health

NHS Digital puts biometric login coding at developers’ fingertips

The code allows patients to access the NHS App through face or fingerprint recognition technology.

Chris Fleming, Delivery Director at NHS Digital said “The NHS App team has open sourced code which will help those using NHS login as an identity and authentication provider to confirm people’s identity using fingerprint and facial recognition.”

“We received great feedback from login users as it sped up the process considerably for them, and we wanted others to benefit from the work. The team has released two libraries for developers.”

Omnicell showcases medication dispensing and administration solution

vMAR is a new product from healthcare automation and medication adherence experts, Omnicell UK. It fully automates the medication dispensing and administration process for both pharmacies and care homes, whilst reducing the risk of error.

It allows for a complete audit trail and closes the loop around medication management, which is notoriously prone to human error, allowing for complete traceability from the moment a pill is dispensed to the moment it is administered. It is the first time that two existing Omnicell products, eMAR and VBM, have been connected and the vMAR system saves time on manual tasks in both pharmacies and care homes.
