Ealing Hospital to go live with e-portering app

Ealing Hospital is to go live this week with an eportering app that streamlines the process of requesting a porter.

Following a successful implementation at Norwick Part Hospital, part of London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, Infinity Health’s platform will be rolled out at Ealing Hospital’s emergency department to support 250 staff to request and accept portering jobs from their mobile device or desktop.

The platform is to go live on Wednesday this week, replacing the existing practice of staff filling out a request form for more than 100,000 transfer requests a year.

The trust said the time it takes to complete a request using Infinity is six minutes faster, and calculates the saving to be over 10,000 hours in result.

Miriam Harris, Clinical Director for Emergency Medicine, LNWH, said: “Infinity has been a real success at our sister A&E service at Northwick Park so we’re really looking forward to its introduction at Ealing.”

“It’s faster, more reliable and efficient than the previous system and enables porters to track tasks on their mobile phones.”

“It also allows us to accurately track patient movement in and out of the department, making things a lot easier for staff as well as helping improve patient experience.”

Elliott Engers, CEO, Infinity Health, said: This project is particularly timely in the current circumstances – not only will it bring the benefits already felt elsewhere in the trust to Ealing, but we hope it will help alleviate some of the extra pressure staff are under as they battle with the impact of coronavirus on staffing levels and patient demand.”

The new contract comes after Northwick Park Hospital, which is also part of LNWH, implemented Infinity two years ago.
