Round 2 AI in Health and Care Award programme to open

Round 2 of the AI in Health and Care Award programme is set to open for applications next week.

The programme is run in partnership with the Accelerated Access Collaborative and NHSX, and forms part of the NHS Artificial Intelligence Lab announced by Matt Hancock in 2019. £140m is to be invested over three years to help to accelerate the testing and evaluation of AI technologies.

The second competition, round 2, is to open for applications on 3 November, with a closing date of 1pm on 8 December 2020.

In September the winners of round 1 were announced across four phases depending on the stage of the innovation:

There are four phases to support innovations at different stages; phase 1 and 2 intends to support early stage concepts and prototypes, and phases 3 and 4 to support testing and further adoption across health and care.

Round 2, phases 3 and 4, of the AI in Health and Care Award aims to focus on areas to apply triage, imaging, screening, and intelligent operational automation.

To find out more there are two live webinars taking place this week, Tuesday 27 October, 12-1pm (Phases 1-2): Register here and Thursday 29 October, 9-10am (Phases 3-4): Register here.

Applications should be made through the Research Management System available through the NIHR website.
