Burdett Trust for Nursing announces major grant programme for digital health

The Burdett Trust for Nursing has announced that its next major grant programme will focus on digital health, with nurse-led projects at the forefront.

The grants for the 2022 Digital Health Grant Programme will reportedly include professional training and cover three ‘areas of digital health innovation’:

  • Data and analytics to measure and improve nursing practice and nurse-led interventions.
  • Leadership development for digital nurses and associated professional standards.
  • Patient-centred digital health improvement projects.

A professional skills framework, entitled ‘The Change Agents Framework’ will provide assistance throughout projects and registration to an online learning platform will enable participants to use resources, network and evidence-gather.

Burdett Trust Chief Executive, Shirley Baines said: “During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic we saw nurses innovate at scale and use digital health to deliver continuous care for new and existing patients.

“The Burdett Trustees want to support nurses to use data and technology to make real and lasting improvements to patient care, their organisations and to the nursing profession.

“We’re looking for nurses who are passionate about using digital health to transform patient care. We want every project we fund to bring about lasting patient benefits.”

CHIME (the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives) will also support the grant holders with three workshops on areas such as communication, project management and creativity.

Jane Dwelly, Vice President International for CHIME added: “We know that transformation in digital health depends on people taking on leadership roles and making change happen. We’re excited to support digital nurse change agents by giving them end to end professional guidance from project launch to locking in lasting benefits.”

Burdett, an independent charitable trust, regularly creates grants to ‘enhance the nursing contribution to healthcare’ and this programme is open to applications between 1 April and 30 May 2021. Interested parties can attend a webinar on 16 or 18 March 2021.
