Lancashire Teaching extends agreement with Harris EPR

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT has extended its agreement to use the electronic patient record from Harris Healthcare for a further five years.

In 2017, the Trust went live with the platform across its organisation, and last year implemented its electronic prescribing medication administration (EPMA) functionality.

The company said the EPMA module provides the Trust with ‘clinical decision support and drug knowledge vendor reference software’ to help prevent errors and adverse medication events.

The Trust also implemented web-based dashboards that pull patient EPMA data from the EPR and send it to a data warehouse to provide live analytics on protocols and workflows.

As part of the agreement the Trust now aims to use the system for remote access, by accessing it through a web browser, without a client desktop installation.

Janet Young, Head of Digital Programme Delivery, Technology Services, LTH NHS Trust, added: “The EPR system has enabled us to define and implement all the necessary capabilities and functionality, rapidly and on our own, to face with great success the extraordinary challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This allowed us to remain confidently and steadfastly ahead in this battle.”

Santina Allen, Senior Executive Vice President for Harris Healthcare, said: “We admire the work of LTH NHS Trust and are excited to pursue our strategic partnership and accompany the organisation in their phenomenal digital transformation, leveraging data and technology to further drive positive patient outcomes.”

Earlier this month HTN interviewed Andrea Jones, from the Trust, to talk about an app recently implemented within the hospital that is used to collect patient data, consent and clinical photography.
