PRSB launches supplier scheme to drive standards

The Professional Record Standards Body (PRSB), a non-profit organisation responsible for the development of standards for digital health and care records, has launched a new vendor scheme to support integrated care.

The ‘Standards Partnership Scheme’ has been launched to visibly recognise and support vendors that are implementing endorsed record standards, in a bid to help improve and integrate care through interoperability.

It provides a support programme for qualifying organisations, including workshops, briefings, guidance and networking opportunities. PRSB also said that joining the scheme helps to send ‘a strong signal’ that the companies involved are helping to drive toward standards and interoperability in the NHS and social care.

Vendors joining the scheme will also be able to contribute the development of standards and support the priority plan.

PRSB said: “Vendors will improve, local adoption of standards will improve, and the standards themselves will improve as we learn from real experience of implementing – so that they are useful, usable and used.”

Professor Maureen Baker, Chair of the PRSB, added: “Clinical standards enable health and care professionals to swiftly access the crucial information they need to support the delivery of good quality, personalised care.

“Through our new partnership community, vendors will get the chance to work closely with clinical and professional leaders, systemleadersand patient advocacy groups to make these standards work in action.”

David Turner, Chief Technology Officer at NHSX added: “At NHSX we work closely with the PRSB and other partners to drive the adoption of standards to support better care and improved interoperability.”

This new partnership scheme is an important contribution to developing a truly joined up health and care system. Now is the time for vendors, clinicians, social care workers to join forces and adopt standards for a future focused on better, safer and more integrated health and care.”
