Servelec has announced the acquisition of Elemental Software, a company specialising in social prescribing technology.
Developed by former community workers, the technology is used to help connect people with support and services in there community to help address any social issues they are facing. The platform is used by GPs, multi-disciplinary teams, housing associations, social prescribing link workers, education, community and voluntary sector organisations to establish, scale up and measure the effectiveness of social prescribing and population health management.
Earlier in the year, HTN reported on the latest development to the platform, providing practices using EMIS with improved reporting to understand the take up of social prescribing, and receive information back after a referral.
Servelec commented on the acquisition: “The move allows Servelec to further support public services at community level and continue to champion an open ecosystem by working with other tech suppliers to join up health and care. It will be able to offer social prescribing through integrations with its Rio electronic patient record and Mosaic social care case management software, used by 45 NHS trusts and over 150 local authorities.”
Ian Crichton, CEO at Servelec, added: “In keeping with our commitment to improve lives with technology that matters, we’ll be supporting Elemental to accelerate its plans for growth and further drive the successful adoption and implementation of social prescribing across the UK.
“With its focus on joining up community health and wellbeing and reducing health inequality, Elemental is clearly well-aligned with our aim of connecting communities through digital care.
“Together, through social prescribing, we have a huge opportunity to connect people with the community-based programmes, services and interventions that make a positive impact on their lives.”
Jennifer Neff, CEO at Elemental, said: “This is really good news for social prescribing. Leeann Monk-Ozgul and I founded Elemental with the goal of growing the adoption of social prescribing and helping embed it in health and social care as a way to halt avoidable health inequalities. Servelec shares a similar commitment to improving lives with technology and is strongly committed to accelerating Elemental’s growth to drive the successful adoption and implementation of social prescribing.”
Elemental will continue to operate from Derry, Northern Ireland, under its brand and leadership team.
