Manchester University NHS selects Hyland

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has selected Hyland Healthcare’s OnBase content services platform and image capture tool as part of its digital strategy.

Forming part of the trust’s EPR programme, where it is introducing the Epic electronic patient record, the trust plans to use OnBase for its clinical forms, images and videos.

In May 2020, the trust signed a £181 million, 15-year deal with Epic for its electronic patient record solution. The EPR solution, which will be called Hive, will eventually provide a new ‘operating system’ for the trust which will replace current IT systems, including three existing EPR and Patient Administration Systems and a number of smaller specialty systems.

The OnBase platform will be hosted in the cloud, and integrate with Epic to provide information within the core application. The company’s ‘PACSgear’ will support the trust with data management, to capture medical images and data, such as during endoscopy procedures.

Jo Smith, Group Chief Informatics Officer, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, commented on the new contract: “The low-code OnBase platform integrates with more than 30 Epic modules to provide a more accurate and complete patient record, ensuring providers at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust have the information they need to make the most informed decisions and provide the best care.”

Mark Groesch, Director of Hyland Healthcare International Sales, added: “By leveraging the tested and validated OnBase integration for Epic, and PACSgear image and video capture solution, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is extending the value of its Epic investment, incorporating additional essential information management functionality from within the Epic system to further streamline processes across the organisation and its multiple facilities.”

Last month, HTN reported on the news that Gloucestershire Hospitals picked Hyland Healthcare as part of its wider digital transformation strategy.
