Alcidion announces the acquisition of Silverlink Software

Healthcare informatics company Alcidion has announced its acquisition of Silverlink Software, a specialist Patient Administration System (PAS) provider which works with the NHS.

The move will provide Alcidion with PAS capabilities, which the company hopes will complement the existing clinical capacity offered by its Miya Precision product. It’s expected that the pairing of the two products, alongside a network of partners, will allow Alcidion to deliver a ‘cloud-native, modern and modular’ Electronic Patient Record (EPR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to the NHS.

Alcidion announced the news with a post on social media, which read: “We are excited by the combination of Miya Precision with the Silverlink PAS which will result in a modern modular EPR/EMR. We look forward to welcoming the Silverlink team to Alcidion.”

The acquisition will add 11 new NHS trusts to Alcidion’s customer portfolio, expanding the company’s customer base to 38 trusts across the acute NHS market, overall.

Kate Quirke, Alcidion Group Managing Director, commented: “This acquisition is very exciting and aligns with our overall intention to enhance the services we can offer the NHS. We welcome the Silverlink team who together with our own senior leadership team have decades of product development and implementation experience in PAS. These skills and experience make this partnership a perfect fit.”

Lynette Ousby, UK Managing Director added: “We are excited to bring on board the experience and technology of the Silverlink team, which complements the work we have been doing at Alcidion with our Miya Precision platform. We believe that together we have a modern and compelling solution that delivers something different to the NHS. Our approach of separating data and application layers allows us to deliver an open, modular and flexible EPR ecosystem that can be easily configured to the specific needs of each trust. This further signals our intent to bring a compelling alternative to how trusts and ICS’ accelerate their digital maturity.”

Earlier this year, Alcidion also announced the capture of a UK patient flow software company called ExtraMed, making it a busy 2021 for the health informatics business.

While, experts from the company also recently provided a panel discussion and presentation on digital solutions to support Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), at our October HTN Now Focus event, which you can catch up on here.
