UK Kidney Association national patient facing platform

The UK Kidney Association has announced it’s moving its patient facing platform to Patients Know Best.

Currently 12 NHS trusts have gone live so far with the personal health records tool, as part of a fve-year deal, to deliver the system nationally.

The project follows the recent news of the Young Epilepsy Charity’s decision to implement the platform nationally for children and young people with epilepsy.

For kidney patients, the system is being introduced to increase security, support care planning, allow team-based messaging and enable an ecosystem of wearable and monitoring devices.

Currently 12 sites are live with the portal, including:

  • Barts Health NHS Trust
  • Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust
  • East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
  • Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
  • University Hospitals of Derby and Burton
  • University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust
  • Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust
  • Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust
  • St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust.

Through introducing the system, patients will be able to view letters, results, track medicines and care plans, create messages and update a diary log.
