12 health tech start-ups join Amazon Web Services accelerator

Amazon Web Services has announced 12 health tech start-ups to join its first healthcare accelerator programme.

The 12 start-ups have been selected following 117 applications from 13 countries, by a panel from Amazon Web Services and PUBLIC.

The tech firms will now join a four-week programme aimed to provide ‘technical, business, and mentorship’ and Amazon Web Services training.

Vinicius Horewicz, Head of Engineering, Infinity Health, one of the providers joining the programme: “Working closely with AWS Solutions Architects is such a tremendous opportunity. Their deep understanding of the AWS ecosystem, and invaluable feedback specific to our solution, enables us to make the most out of AWS services, improve costs, and have the confidence to scale Infinity for the benefit of even more health and care staff.”

The 12 participants joining the programme include:

  • Sapien Health – digital clinic for surgery, helping people prepare for surgery
  • Dr Julian – a mental healthcare platform
  • WYSA – helping users self-manage stressors by blending AI-guided listening with professional support
  • DDM Health – digital therapeutics
  • PEP Health – natural language processing for patient comments
  • Dignio – connects patients and healthcare professionals through a digital platform
  • Remedy Rx – patient data capture platform
  • Birdie – platform for home care providers
  • Infinity Health – task management solution to plan and coordinate care, monitor performance
  • Abtrace – supporting long-term health conditions
  • C the Signs – a clinical system to identify patients at risk of cancer at the earliest stage
  • Thymia – analyses speech, video and behavioural data gathered via specially designed video games
