CLEO Systems, a primary and urgent care health tech supplier, has announced the launch of an electronic prescription solution (EPS) following a successful pilot with Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust.
The company has worked with the trust to complete a first of type pilot to digitise patients’ prescriptions and remove paper, as well as connecting to community pharmacies digitally.
Commenting on the pilot, Colin Jones, EPMA Programme Manager, MPFT, said: “The solution has allowed our community clinicians to realise the benefits of digital prescribing, whilst also enhancing prescription security.
“Working with CLEO systems and NHS Digital, we have tailored EPS to suit different service requirements, ensuring benefits such as reduction in travel, postage and time are realised by a wide variety of services across the trust.
“I’m really pleased that we have had a successful pilot of EPS, with the benefits for our staff, services users and community pharmacies, and am looking forward to deploying EPS further within MPFT.”
In October 2021, HTN reported on the launch of a new digital strategy at the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The strategy’s underlining principle puts ‘people at the heart’ of the digital plans and outlines three main aims: that service users and staff experience an NHS and social care that acts as one; to connect service users and staff to secure and reliable systems that are flexible, accessible and offer more choice in how care is accessed and delivered; and to inform service users and staff through data that remains private and is used and shared for the purpose of health and social care only.
