North Lincs and Goole picks data platform

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust is to introduce a foundational data management platform from tech supplier Insource.

The platform will initially span across three hospitals, including Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby, Scunthorpe General Hospital, and Goole and District Hospital, as well as connecting with community services using SystmOne.

For the first phase of the programme, data will be extracted from the organisations involved into the data platform, which provides care coordination, BI and analytics, and statutory reporting capability.

The platform will be provided as a managed service on the Microsoft Azure platform and support the trust’s move towards shared digital services with Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Christopher Evans, Associate Director of Information Systems, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, commented: “Whilst this is initially about replacing our ageing data warehouse, the core decision is primarily to ensure strategic alignment and collaboration between our two organisations.

“We already have a shared vision between NLaG and HUTH and we will be merging onto a single platform across both organisations within the next couple of years. What Insource gives us is data consistency and continuity of reporting across the wider regional footprint while we redesign clinical services and pathways to meet our integrated care goals.

“Going with managed services allows us to release analyst time back into the business and the platform provides the operational resilience needed while we rationalise our digital services.”
