Digital Health and Care Wales has launched a new framework to support organisations in procuring electronic prescribing and medicines administration solutions.
Nervecentre Software, CareFlow Medicines Management and Better have been awarded onto the framework.
The programme aims to support hospitals in Wales call-off EPMA solutions on a local basis and run smaller competition processes.
NHS organisations on the framework include: Aneurin Bevan University Local Health Board; Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board; Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board; Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Local Health Board; Hywel Dda University Local Health Board; Powys Teaching Local Health Board; Public Health Wales NHS Trust; Swansea Bay University Local Health Board; Velindre University NHS Trust; and Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
Forming part of the requirements, the solutions must provide auditable prescribing decision-making support; record and monitor the issuance and administration of pharmaceuticals; and interface with local and national systems, including patient administration and pharmacy stock control.
Simon Jones, chair of Digital Health and Care Wales, said: “This is a huge milestone in the development of digital transformation and the outcome of this work will make a really positive difference in secondary care. This is a big step in the delivery of the digital medicines programme.”
The programme forms part of the Digital Health and Care Wales Digital Medicines Transformation Portfolio, which aims “to make the prescribing, dispensing and administration of medicines everywhere in Wales, easier, safer, more efficient and effective, through digital”.
