University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust has announced the appointment of Dr Nitin Kolhe as chief clinical information officer and deputy medical director for digital and data, with the appointment to form part of a wider transformation journey including the procurement of a new EPR system and the implementation of a number of digital solutions such as Imprivata OneSign.
Dr Kolhe, currently consultant nephrologist and deputy divisional medical director for medicine, starts his new role this month. Speaking on the appointment, he said: “I am passionate about ensuring patients receive the best possible care through innovative technology. I will advocate for user-centered solutions, emphasise usability and accessibility to improve the overall clinical and patient experience.”
In addition, Dr Kolhe commented that he is looking forward to collaborating with digital and clinical teams through the trust’s digital journey, adding: “I believe that with my medical background and first-hand experience as a healthcare practitioner, I can bridge the gap between clinical workflows and technology solutions. This understanding allows me to implement systems that align with the needs and preferences of medical professionals, which ultimately improves patient outcomes.”
Will Monaghan, executive CDIO, said: “I am delighted to welcome Nitin to the team, and I am confident that alongside Stacey Hatton, our chief nurse information officer, he will continue to put our clinical teams at the heart of our digital transformation, and support new digital technologies and approaches to better support colleagues to deliver exceptional care for patients. I wanted to share my thanks and gratitude to Iain Lennon who has been in the role for the last five years and has contributed enormously to our digital transformation journey.”
