Last week, the Department of Health and Social Care announced a £30 million funding programme inviting integrated care systems to submit bids for digital projects. The funding opportunity is based on local need, which the Government notes could cover technology to support wait lists, virtual wards, wearable devices to monitor chronic conditions remotely, support diagnosis, the expansion of 3D checks for cancer tests or logistics solutions such as the use of drones.

In August NHS SBS announced a tender worth an estimated £1.5 billion for the provision of digital workplace solutions. NHS SBS notes that “the scope of the intended framework agreement is wide” will include bespoke software development; COTS software licensing; infrastructure equipment supply; infrastructure support and maintenance; infrastructure management services for equipment and software; fixed communication services; mobile communication services; and more.
