Innovate UK is working with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to offer a share of up to £500,000 for innovation projects, with the funding to support small and micro businesses grow their innovation activities in the health technologies cluster in West Yorkshire, both during and after the programme.
As part of the Innovate UK Launchpad programme, which aims to support SMEs and the most innovative businesses to work toward commercialising their ideas, the funding will form part of a package of tailored support delivered by local business innovation experts and Innovate UK Business Growth.
Projects should have a focus on health technology innovation addressing human health challenges such as health inequalities, global net zero in healthcare, major health conditions, disease prevention, and the early detection or diagnosis of disease. This may cover medical devices, diagnostics, data driven health technologies, or AI.
According to the brief, innovations could lead to new products, processes or services “significantly ahead of others currently available”; could propose an innovative use of existing products, processes, or services; or could involve a new or innovative business model.
Applications will be welcomed for projects with total costs and grant funding requests of between £25,000 and £50,000, be between three and six months in duration, be based in the UK, and have a start date between 1 November 2024 and 1 February 2025.

Elsewhere, Medtech start-up MyOpNotes, a digital platform designed to streamline the writing of operation notes for surgeons whilst capturing data for research and audit purposes, was recently awarded Innovate UK grant funding to support the integration of its technology into the NHS.
