West Yorkshire ICB appoints new chief digital and information officer

West Yorkshire ICB has announced the appointment of a new chief digital and information officer (director of digital), with Shaukat Ali Khan joining the ICB’s leadership team from autumn 2024.

Shaukat has had an international career “across strategic and operational IT disciplines” in the healthcare, education, pharmaceutical, humanitarian, hospitality and defence sectors, and spoke of his “delight” to be taking up the role as part of the West Yorkshire team delivering “whole health system transformation”.

He added: “Digital and innovation is a progressive area of healthcare delivery and an extremely exciting challenge for me. I am really looking forward to taking up this new post working with digital information colleagues and business intelligence teams across West Yorkshire.”

In an update, the ICB highlighted Shaukat’s experience in his current role as the global chief information officer at the Aga Khan University, as well as his work across Asia, Africa and the UK, leading digital transformation initiatives and delivering digital strategies.

In other news from the region, Innovate UK is working with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to offer a share of up to £500,000 for innovation projects, with the funding to support small and micro businesses grow their innovation activities in the health technologies cluster in West Yorkshire, both during and after the programme.
