Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership announces EPR supplier

Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust has confirmed the supplier of its electronic patient record system, to implement TPP’s SystmOne.

The announcement follows a tender process in which the trust highlights 62 clinical and operational staff were actively involved in the procurement.

Peter Newton, director of digital & informatics services at CWPT, noted “the EPR will be centred around 3 key aims: enhancing patient care, empowering our people, and building a system with a strong foundation for future advancements”.

Julie Frake-Harris, COO and senior responsible officer for the EPR, shared that the investment would enable staff to spend less time navigating systems and more time focused on patients, with real-time data meaning “teams will be able to act faster, reduce errors, and tailor care more effectively to each individual accessing our services”.

The trust noted the aim for the EPR is to be a “foundation for future innovation, supporting the delivery of high-quality, responsive care across mental health, learning disabilities, community, and specialist services”.

EPRs: the wider trend

For a recent HTN Now panel discussion on go-live best practices, we welcomed experts from across health and care, including Sally Mole, digital programme manager at The Dudley Group NHS FT, Fhezan Ashraf, clinical configuration manager at The Dudley Group NHS FT, Stacey Spence, EPR programme manager at Medway NHS FT and Hayley Grafton, CNIO at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The discussion began with wider introductions, where each of our experts gave an overview of their own go-live projects before moving onto post go-live best practices, exploring key learnings and challenges when it comes to engaging the workforce and measuring adoption.

“Tiger Teams” of multi-skilled private sector experts are now accepting requests for EPR support, following a procurement process from NHS England, which culminated in the award of a contract worth up to £13 million to KPMG LLP. Under the new contract, KPMG LLP is required to create “an experienced, multi-skilled, rapid response intervention service also known as a Tiger Teams service” capable of supporting EPR delivery across England.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust has published a prior information notice for an electronic patient care record (ePCR) solution for its ambulance services. As part of the procurement process, the trust aims to “consider the advantages of open tendering versus the use of different procurement routes”, which includes the use of any relevant public procurement framework or developing an in-house solution. The contract is valued at up to £15 million and is expected to last for a 5-year period, starting from October 2026.

The iClipPro EPR also recently went live across St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals, integrating multiple systems across the trusts’ sites and covering more than 17,000 colleagues. It aims to minimise duplication and streamline administrative tasks while helping speed up observations, monitoring and prescribing.
