The go-live for Northampton General Hospital’s Nervecentre EPR is set to take place on 28 June, replacing the organisation’s current mix of paper and digital systems, and complementing the Northamptonshire Care Record to support more joined up care across the region.
Training for staff is underway, with teams across the organisation working to ensure the new system is embedded safely and effectively, according to the trust. The system will enable staff to view up-to-date information from devices such as tablets and mobile phones, said to allow for less time to be spent on administration, and improving coordination between departments or services. The trust also highlights that the introduction of the system will lead to improvements in patient safety through key clinical alerts and an auditable record of care.
Willi Monaghan, group CDIO at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire and University Hospitals of Leicester, referred to the upcoming go-live as “a pivotal moment for NGH and our patients”, adding: “I’m incredibly proud of how our colleagues have embraced this change – they’ve worked tirelessly to prepare for this transition. While there may be a few teething problems as we go live, this investment in digital infrastructure will transform how we work, giving our teams more time to focus on what matters most: caring for patients.”
The update also asks patients to “bear with staff” during the transition, stating “as staff begin using the new system from Saturday, 28 June, some processes may take slightly longer than usual as teams get used to the new way of working”.
