23 digital aspirants have been revealed, part of a multi year programme to drive digital transformation.
The organisations will share a £28 million technology fund, as part of the first group of digital aspirants announced.
In December Matt Hancock announced the programme, commenting “I want the whole of the NHS to be part of the programme, not just the leading trusts.”
“Until now, the focus has been on getting some hospitals up to scratch through the global digital exemplar programme. They’ve got to keep advancing, but now we’re going to help many more hospitals with a new digital aspirant programme.”
The programme aims to accelerate the transformation of health tech and support deployment and procurement.
The first group includes:

- Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust
- Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS FT
- East London NHS FT
- East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust
- James Paget University Hospitals NHS FT
- Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust
- Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS FT
- Norfolk and Suffolk NHS FT
- North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust
- Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS FT
- Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS FT
- Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
- South Tees Hospitals NHS FT
- St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
- Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
- The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS FT
