37 NHS staff have been successful in gaining a place on the third year of the Digital Pioneer Fellowship, supported by DigitalHealth.London.
The programme supports NHS staff lead digital transformation projects within their organisations in London and the South East.
The 2020/21 cohort of Fellows include eighteen administrative staff (including an engineer, IT/informatics staff, project and programme managers, innovation/transformation leads and a service manager), eight are Allied Health Professionals (including pharmacists, physiotherapists, psychologists and a speech and language therapist), six are medical professionals (including a dentist, an emergency medicine doctor, a GP, an oncologist, an otolaryngologist and a psychiatrist) and five are nurses (including digital lead nurses and one CNIO).
Some of the projects as part of the programme include leading on EPMA systems, EPR and educational programmes:
Holly Salisbury, Senior Project Manager at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust will be working on the trust’s EHR programme. The programme aims to deliver a single integrated electronic health record across Guy’s and St Thomas’ and their partners. The programme will also include medical device integration and speech recognition.
Stephanie Lurshay, Critical Care and Digital Innovation Pharmacist at Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust will be working on a project to use Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology as part of the trust’s EPMA programme. The project aims to use the technology to assist in the transcribing process, with the target of reducing the overall error rate and time taken to transcribe.
Arron Thind, Foundation Year three Doctor at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust will focus on practical medical teaching as part of their EPR programme. This will include the integration of SimEPR, an educational electronic patient record system, into practical clinical training for medical students.
