The June edition of HTN Now is jam-packed with sessions. Here we cover what’s in store:
June 14th 11am – How to lead a successful digital health implementation
This session is aimed to help healthcare organisations implement clinically and operationally-led digital transformation programmes. It will explore the importance of the mobilisation phase and what to look out for in a post-COVID world, discussing the implementation timeline and what to be mindful of when aligning the software vendor to the organisational change.
June 14th 3pm – Digital programmes and learnings
In this session, we welcome one of the largest specialist orthopaedic hospitals in Europe, The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to talk digital programmes and learnings.
June 15th 9am – Experiences from nurse information officers
With this session we hear the views of two nurse information officers, who present their experiences and digital programmes.
June 15th 11am – Social media as an early warning system for the NHS: predict, prevent, protect
In this webinar, you will hear from one of the leading data scientists at the Business and Local Gov. Data Research Centre who is applying novel analytics to improve drug and vaccine safety.
Is the current Yellow Card Scheme fit for purpose and could social media be used as an early warning system? This webinar will demonstrate how you can benefit from this organic evolution of data and how it is opening a new world of information for the NHS.
June 15th 3pm – A Beginners Guide to Epic
Here we open the session up to a presentation on the Epic electronic patient record system from David Kwo (who procured and implemented Epic at Cambridge and UCLH) and Dr Raied Abdul-Karim (who procured and implemented Epic at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS FT).
June 16th 9am – Health tech programmes and learnings from a recent hospital move
We welcome Andrew Raynes, Director of Digital and Chief Information Officer at Royal Papworth Hospital to take us through their digital programmes and learnings from a recent hospital move.
June 16th 11am – King’s College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – Redesigning patient journeys and improving access to services

June 16th 1pm – Opportunities to save frontline workers time
We’ll be looking at the different types of communication that take place within a hospital today and what the opportunities might be for improving this. We’ll be covering responsive and reactive comms, more structured types of exchanges, as well as how we can look at keeping frontline workers informed of developments that impact them in real-time.
June 16th 3pm – NHS England and Improvement
In this part of the agenda we hear from NHS England and Improvement on the role of health tech in the new hospital build programme.
June 17th 12pm – ICS Digital Strategy, Part 2
Following further analyses since the first webinar (HTN Now April 2021), an updated review of (a) core ICS digital requirements; (b) the main ICS digital options to meet those requirements; and (c) trade-offs for ICS leadership to consider in choosing between these options. The session will discuss shared care records, open system platforms and integrated EPR packages and offer views of their relative pros and cons. The concept of a core set of EPR functionality across care settings will be introduced. This session will be run by NHS clinicians and digital leaders and representatives of these digital options. An interactive session.
June 17th 2pm – NHSX, Can you afford not to use Blueprints?
In this session we welcome Paul Charnley, Digital Lead at Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership and James Reed, Chief Clinical Information Officer at Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, to discuss the NHSX Blueprinting programme.
June 17th 3pm – Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and its application to achieve efficiency savings within the NHS
To close HTN Now June, we welcome Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust to focus on their RPA programme. The session objectives include:
- Increase understanding of automation and benefits
- Overview of the NGH Automation Accelerator Centre of Excellence
- Case study of automation being applied during pandemic
- Key barriers identified and steps to address
