NHS England has opened a new opportunity inviting systems and providers to participate in a new Provider Collaborative Innovators scheme.
The programme aims to support 7-9 collaboratives address key challenges, shape service improvement and deliver mid to long term transformation.
In a letter to ICBs and NHS trusts, NHS England notes: “Our aim is to support sustainable improvement in the quality and efficiency of patient care across the country through collaboration and clinical leadership.”
In August NHS England published guidance to support Collaboratives, highlighting the opportunity to reduce unwarranted variation in patient outcomes, improve access and experience, and sharing capacity and resources. The document notes examples focusing on improvements in clinical pathways, supporting ‘fragile services’, and joining up corporate and clinical support functions.
Forming part of the programme, support will be offered centrally in areas such as strategic planning, programme management, building partnerships across systems, governance and using data and digital to drive change.
The criteria for the programme is to support Innovator programmes in delivering mid to long term transformation and address key challenges, such as transforming and improving planned care, specialist acute care and non-specialist mental health, learning disability and autism services.
