Blackrock Health, a private hospital group across Dublin, Galway, Hermitage and Limerick, has gone live with its Meditech EHR, marking what group CIO Mike McCann refers to as the culmination of “many months” of planning, collaboration, testing, training, and dedication from clinical, operational, and tech teams.
Four out of five Blackrock Health clinical sites are now operating on the same platform, supporting continuity of care for patients, McCann reports. Full roll out is expected to be achieved in 2027.
In a LinkedIn post, the group CIO offered his thanks to clinicians, nursing teams, admin staff, project teams, technical teams, vendor partners, and executive leadership for their work to make the go-live possible.
“Congratulations to everyone involved in reaching this important milestone. This success reflects the dedication, teamwork, and shared vision of so many people across Blackrock Health,” McCann adds.

The board of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has highlighted its focus on scoping a business case for an integrated health record, and has set out work on its new digital and data strategy. Board approval was granted back in July of 2024 to proceed with the preparation of relevant documentation to find a strategic partner for the delivery of a modular electronic patient record, the health board states. A focus for the digital and data team is now the scoping of a business case for an integrated health record “complemented by a digitally enabled patient centred contact programme”.
$50 billion is to be awarded across all 50 US states to improve rural health, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has announced, in an initiative to “strengthen and modernise” healthcare for rural communities. According to the HHS, investments will be used to modernise facilities and equipment, expand remote monitoring and telehealth, and introduce digital tools to expand access to care. “States are also exploring the use of technology such as AI scribes and clinical workflow improvement tools to reduce burdens on clinicians,” it notes.
A quality account for 2025/26 has recognised a series of digital achievements at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, noting a successful EHR and patient portal launch, and tech in diagnostics and surgery. The trust shares the successful launch of its Epic EHR in November 2025 in partnership with University College London Hospitals, replacing multiple legacy systems and granting clinicians real-time access to patient information. At the same time, it also introduced the MyCare patient-facing app to give patients access to information about their care, and EpicCare Link for tertiary referrals.
