University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust has awarded a contract worth £145,710 to Orchid Software for an occupational health EPR.
The supplier website notes the tool provides efficient case management with access for specialists, supporting case management and health surveillance. The award, made as a call-off from a framework agreement, covers a three-year period to 30 July 2029.
University Hospitals of Leicester recently announced that it had made a “major upgrade” to its EPR system and begun work on the phased roll out of ambient voice technology.
In a LinkedIn post, the trust shared that the EPR upgrade introduces digital clinical documentation for inpatients, expanded electronic prescribing, digital imaging requests, and outpatient reporting.
The introduction of AVT follows a successful pilot and testing phase, seeing the technology used to draft clinical notes during consultations to be approved by clinicians and added to the patient record.
Will Monaghan, group CDIO, spoke of ambitions to become a fully digitally enabled trust, adding: “We also want to make UHL an even better place to work by giving colleagues digital tools that genuinely help. Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is set to launch an EPR inequalities flag to help colleagues across the trust identify patients at the greatest risk of experiencing health inequalities. The flag has been introduced following its successful use in maternity, where CHFT reports it has supported more personalised conversations and care planning. Appearing within a patient’s clinical record to highlight those at a greater risk of health inequalities, the flag is intended to prompt staff to “take a moment” to consider whether they might make any reasonable adjustments, or offer additional support or personalised communication to help meet a patient’s individual needs, according to CHFT.
East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust has shared the latest on its new EPR, confirming a contract has been signed with provider Terrafix to replace its current system over the next year. The contract with its current EPR supplier is due to end in 2027, it continues, which reportedly provided an opportunity to review the market to find a modern platform capable of supporting future clinical practice, interoperability, and service improvement. The trust outlines hopes for the new system around reducing duplication and improving data capture, incorporating digital clinical decision support tools, and helping with handovers in making sure all relevant information is on hand for those involved in a patient’s care.
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has progressed its EPR programme, moving to “full mobilisation” following confirmation from NHS England. The trust board reported delivering a full business case to NHS England for its SystmOne EPR, with implementation plans “well underway”. At that time, it shared that six Listening into Action teams had been assembled to direct the design and configuration work required to tailor the system to meet trust needs, and that good progress was being made on staff training and the migration of data from Lorenzo. The development of EPR super users is a priority for Q1 2026/27, and go-live is hoped to take place in 2027, it added.
