The next instalment in our health tech for the now series is almost upon us, with four days of live health tech sessions and content from a variety of digital leaders.
With only five days to go until the next HTN Now event in the series, which begins on 14 June 2021 at 11am, here we highlight all 14 of our webcasts, which showcase some of the latest developments in the industry, and signpost what to look out for.
We recently made 2,000 free passes available for any NHS employed professional wishing to attend one session or more. To claim your ticket, please register here >.
In the meantime, to prepare you for our four days full of webinars, here’s an overview of the agenda, the health tech experts who’ll be presenting and the topics we’ll cover…
Monday 14 June
The first session we’ll be hosting at 11am is ‘how to lead a successful digital health implementation’. We’ll be joined by Jonah Aburrow-Jones, Director of Ideal Health, who’ll share his tips and insight and explain how the company supports healthcare organisations to implement clinically and operationally-led digital transformation programmes. He’ll also explore the importance of the mobilisation phase in a post-COVID world, discuss the implementation timeline and much more.
Following this, our lunchtime webinar at 1pm will focus on ‘remote patient monitoring, digital healthcare and real world impact’. This session, by Inhealthcare, provides background into how digital healthcare works, using case studies with evidence – from child immunisations to COVID-19 symptom tracking – to to illustrate what technology does and the problems it can help to solve, as well as how it can be introduced.
The last session on Monday, entitled ‘digital programmes and learnings from one of the largest specialist orthopaedic units in Europe’, starts at 3pm. In this, we hear from Gavin Newman, Digital Programme Manager at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, to find how the organisation is working to improve its digital growth by reducing paper usage and printing.
Tuesday 15 June
Day two starts with our 9am breakfast session, which focuses on ‘experiences from nurse information officers’. Here Helen McGuire and Ainhoa Arjona present their experiences so far in their new roles as Assistant Nursing Information Officers (ANIO) at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.
This is followed by our second webinar of the day, ‘social media as an early warning system for the NHS: predict, prevent, protect’, where you will hear from one of the leading data scientists at the Business and Local Government Data Research Centre, based at the University of Essex, who works on applying novel analytics to improve drug and vaccine safety. Areas covered include whether the current Yellow Card Scheme is fit for purpose, whether social media be used as an early warning system and the benefits of data and how it is opening a new world of information for the NHS, as well as how viewers can access fully funded data analytics.
We then round-off Tuesday with a 3pm talk, ‘NHS EPRs – a beginner’s guide to Epic’, which will provide the audience with insight into how to implement the electronic patient record system via a presentation from David Kwo, who procured and implemented Epic at Cambridge and UCLH, and Dr Raied Abdul-Karim, who did the same at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust.
Wednesday 16 June
We kick-off Wednesday at 9am with Andrew Raynes, Director of Digital and Chief Information Officer at the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, who’ll discuss ‘health tech programmes and learnings from a recent hospital move’ – a great way to start the day.
At 11am, we are then live with King’s College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a talk on ‘redesigning patient journeys and improving access to services’. This session focuses on patient-centric solutions, integrated patient flow, virtual visits and patients attending in person from one platform, as well as looking at patient load balancing with real-time visibility of pressure spots, moving to digital first, and developing a supplier ecosystem.
Speakers here include: Jonathon Lofthouse, Site Chief Executive and Charlotte English, Senior Improvement Lead – both of King’s College; Kenny Bloxham – MD, Healthcare Communications and Pete Beaumont Sales Director, Intouch With Health.
On the same day at 1pm, we host a session on ‘opportunities to save frontline workers time’, when we look at the different types of communication that take place within a hospital and what the opportunities might be for improving this. It will cover responsive and reactive communications, structured types of exchanges, as well as how we can look at keeping frontline workers informed of developments that impact them in real-time.
A jam-packed Wednesday then finishes at 3pm with content from NHS England and Improvement on ‘the role of health tech in the new hospital build programme’, which will be released as a special interview at the scheduled time.
Thursday 17 June
On the final day of HTN Now June, we begin bright and early at 9am with ‘WellSky Mobile: One device for a fully closed loop hospital’, which sees Jon Huggins, WellSky Customer Account Manager guide us through the company’s latest developments and software, focusing on the simplification and integration of hospital tech by using just one device.
Join us again at 12pm for an interactive session about ‘ICS digital strategy’ – part two in a series, a follow-up to a previous webinar. Still suitable as a standalone, this webinar is hosted by NHS clinicians and digital leaders. It offers an updated review of core ICS digital requirements, the main ICS digital options to meet those requirements, and trade-offs for ICS leadership to consider in choosing between these options, as well as shared care records, open system platforms and integrated EPR packages.
At 2pm, in our penultimate session, ‘NHSX, Can you afford not to use Blueprints?’, Paul Charnley, Digital Lead at Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership, James Reed, Chief Clinical Information Officer at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Carolyn Crooks, Head of Information Management at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Justin Griffiths, Head of IM&T at the Walton Centre NHS FT and Martin Wilson, Programme Manager and David Hush, Head of Information Management from Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust discuss that very question, as well as opening up to the audience with a Q&A.
The curtain then closes at 3pm, with our last session of the series, a webinar on ‘Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and its application to achieve efficiency savings within the NHS’. Tremaine Richard-Noel, Head of Emerging Technology at Northampton General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, fresh from his recent Forbes Magazine fame, discusses the benefits of automation, as well as offering an overview of the NGH Automation Accelerator Centre of Excellence, automation pandemic case studies, key barriers to adoption and the future of the sector. A fantastic way to finish the event.
In addition to the live sessions, we’ll also be publishing our features, interviews and videos throughout the week. We hope you can join us!
