Agfa has announced that the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust has implemented Agfa’s DR Retrofit direct radiography (DR) solutions at three of its sites. The company said about 80% of the computed radiography (CR) equipment has been replaced as part of a realignment and modernisation project for the radiology department.
As part of the Trust’s program to realign and modernise the radiology services, the Trust decided to upgrade from CR to DR. It chose Agfa as its “Imaging Partner” with the contract for the DR Retrofits signed in September 2017, and implementation was completed in January 2018.
Agfa said to HTN that with DR Retrofit, hospitals can make the most of their existing radiography investments – whether analog or CR – by affordably upgrading them to DR. Offering quick, simple and non-invasive installation, the solution is ready to go in next to no time, very cost-effectively.
For the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, the upgrade resulted in faster, smoother patient throughput, as well as enhanced workflow and better image quality. At the Thomas Linacre Clinic, patient throughput has jumped from 80 patients a day to 120 patients a day.
Stephen Ackers, Superintendent Radiographer, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust “As part of our radiology realignment and modernization, Agfa’s DR Retrofit helps us provide top-level care, in a timely way, to our patients. With the DR Retrofit, we were able to replace about 80% of our CR equipment. Alongside the technical benefits of the upgrade, ambient noise has been reduced and space freed up enabling us to repurpose spaces for further benefit to our patients and department.”
