Asthma UK launches new funding round

Asthma UK has launched a new fund to focus on technology and data to improve asthma care.

Up to £250k is available for successful proposals to help fund the development phase of programmes seeking to link real-time data from smart inhalers to improve asthma care in adults.

The programme is to fund the development phase in order to generate evidence to support an application to achieve guideline body (NICE) and regulatory body endorsement.

The funding call for proposal has asked ‘Can data generated from smart inhalers be used to reduce emergency healthcare use in adults with mild-moderate asthma as part of UK routine asthma care?’

Asthma UK highlights over 50% of people living with asthma do not have an action plan and every 10 seconds someone in the UK has a potentially fatal asthma attack.

The charity has to date invested £50 million across various research initiatives.

The deadline for this funding programme is 1pm on 10th June 2020 and the programme will be funded for 18months from September.
