Health Education England and NHS Transformation Directorate have launched an online learning programme on robotic process automation (RPA).
Led by Health Education England’s elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) team, the programme has been design to support health and social care organisations develop, procure and implement robotic process automation technology. It aims to support the implementation of the tech in-house and create a skilled workforce capable of overseeing RPA enabled processes.
The programme consists of an introduction to RPA; getting started with RPA in your organisation; procurement and implementation, service delivery and sustainability; technology and market; and an assessment.
Health Education England stated: “NHS healthcare providers and commissioners have been increasingly adopting RPA technology to automate many of their clinical and non-clinical admin processes such as HR, finance, patients booking and registration.
“This programme supports the upskilling of NHS professionals involved in developing, procuring, implementing, and using RPA solutions in the workplace by acting as ‘how to guidance’ for senior leaders and the wider NHS workforce, across health and social care.”

In July, HTN supported an online programme led by Darren Atkins, Chief Technology Officer for Intelligent Automation at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Darren has set up a series of live interactive sessions for all professionals working in automation, called the ‘Automation Cafe Live!’ Here we attended one of the sessions focusing on Darren’s advice with robotic process automation technonlogy.
