Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network (YHAHSN) has adopted several digital solutions as part of their accelerator programme, Propel@YH.
Currently, 11 SMEs have been chosen to be part of the programme, which aims to select innovations to tackle NHS and social care challenges such as health inequalities, environmental impact, patient backlog and supporting the workforce.
Several companies such as 6B Digital, HMA, ORCHA, Thrive by Design and YHEC will support the programme by providing masterclasses alongside mentoring sessions by YHAHSN.
The programme intends to build a bridge between commissioners, health care providers, industry and academia to quicken the adoption and expansion of said innovations across local healthcare systems across the region, to better the health of patients.
The cohorts are:
- ADDVantage Technologies, providing sustainability and efficiencies via tech-enabled solutions and data insights.
- Better Medicine, an artificial intelligence (AI) tool allowing doctors to diagnose cancer more accurately in order to fight more efficiently.
- CareNetworx, who provide a care management app to help families coordinate care for relatives with long term health conditions.
- Careology, supplying digital support by connecting cancer patients to caregivers and clinical teams when diagnosed, through to treatment and recovery.
- ehealth Compass: A clinical CRM platform reducing health inequalities and boosting outcomes more sustainably by measuring each patient to the right pathway of care.
- Enable2, helping NHS and local authorities with non-English speaking patients and communities to book online faster with help of interpreters.
- Medwise.ai, a search engine that has been created for healthcare professionals find information at the point of care,
- Recreo VR, packages that have been designed for care home residents to reflect on past memories and to create new ones.
- The Pulse Health, an app that is designed for the NHS that connects two million health and social care workers in one place.
- VIKO.ai, a platform to support patients in managing their own health through a digital self-service tool that is generated by AI.
- Weather Flare, an app that sends real-time personalised weather forecasts to patients and can predict good, bad or bearable days up to five days in advance.
Dr Neville Young, Director of Enterprise and Innovation at YHAHSN, explained: “We’re excited to launch this programme again in 2022 with an increased focus on sustainability this year that has been encouraged by our latest sponsor, the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for the chosen SMEs to receive expert advice and guidance from the AHSN and our key partners, so they can navigate the NHS market, increase their presence in the region and spread their innovations for the benefit of those living and working in Yorkshire and the Humber. Our work with innovator companies is a central element of our role as we seek to encourage health innovation and stimulate growth in life sciences and industry across our region.”
