NHS Supply Chain give notice of upcoming procurement for an eCommerce Solution and Delivery partner

A pre-procurement notice has been published by NHS Supply Chain, seeking an eCommerce Solution and Delivery partner to help them improve their ordering platform, managed content delivery and support integration.

The notice describes how NHS Supply Chain provides procurement and supply chain services to hospitals and healthcare providers, supporting with leveraging national expenditure and ensuring that the supply chain is resilient and sustainable.

“The organisation is at an exciting cross-roads,” the notice reads, “having recently defined a new 10-year vision to enable it to better meet the needs of the NHS and bring its value proposition to a broader range of healthcare providers.” A three to five year transformation plan is in place which aims to re-platform the core Front Office and Digital Commerce solutions, in addition to “dramatically improving” the user experience and interface.

By 2022/2023, they aim to save the NHS £2.4 billion; this will be achieved through leveraging the scale of the NHS to drive savings and providing a standardised range of quality assured clinical products that meet the NHS’s diverse needs.

“NHS Supply Chain captures customer demand through a range of solutions,” the notice continues. “Some of these solutions are over 30 years old, unstable, aren’t flexible and are unable to adapt to our strategy or external changes.”

In order to make the improvements set out in their transformation plan, NHS Supply Chain are looking for an eCommerce Solution and Delivery partner “to provide a single tailored and intuitive ordering platform, managing personalised content delivery across web and mobile channels whilst supporting integration with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and 3rd party platforms.”

The value of the contract will be £10,000,000 and the approach to market date is set for 18 November 2022. The contract itself will start in March 2023 and end in March 2028.

Further information is to be made available once the formal procurement process commences; suppliers are invited to express interest to indicate if they wish to participate in a future procurement for this requirement.
