NHS England opens engagement for digital learning framework pilot

The pilot aims to establish a digital support framework to help organisations and teams embed flexible working practices.

Through a six month pilot planned to start in March 2023, NHS England aims for the programme to deliver a modular programme and platform. This is to include “a train the trainer digital tool that enables and supports teams to have open, honest conversations about flexible working” and “learning modules to equip a facilitator to deliver a workshop that takes a team through the process to create a bespoke framework for flexible working based on a team’s needs.”

Some of the requirements include tools and support for leaders and staff to co-create a team charter or documentation, including on a team’s commitment to each other around behaviours and culture.

As part of the pilot a requirement is for the supplier to provide anonymised data to support understanding of operational and technical barriers that impact on effective flexible working in front line roles. Another is to provide ongoing support to programme facilitators and guide them through challenges and opportunities; to embed a mechanism to ensure standardised delivery and training; and to evidence scalability of the initiative across the NHS.

The pilot will conclude with an evaluation. The current stage of the programme is “a procurement idea” with the intention to judge interest from potential suppliers.
