East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has announced the launch of online hub My Pregnancy Notes at Lister Hospital’s maternity unit, facilitating delivery of a maternity electronic patient record system.
Through My Pregnancy Notes, care will be digitally tracked from the first presentation for maternity care right through to the postnatal period, with the system also enabling conversations and updates between service users and care providers.
The trust highlights how the EPR is “fully interactive” with the opportunity to ask questions, receive appointment reminders, create a birth plan and access resources.
Amanda Rowley, director of midwifery, comments that the EPR “means we can involve our women and service users in every aspect of their care, from the very start of their pregnancy journey – reassuring them with full access to notes, collaborative care planning and extensive remote monitoring.”
EPRs in the spotlight
So far in August, HTN has covered NHS England’s pre-procurement notice for an £18 million health and justice EPR; and the 10-year contract extension from Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.
In July, we noted that Northampton General Hospital signed a 10-year contract for the deployment of its EPR; and we reported that the Norfolk and Waveney Acute Hospitals Collaborative has secured £88 million in funding to implement a shared EPR across three trusts, with the full business case now approved.
Also in July, we hosted a panel discussion on how to extend EPR value through mobility and connected devices. Previous panel discussions hosted by HTN have also explored approaches for deploying a mental health EPR; how to realise benefits and overcome challenges for EPR implementation; and finances associated with an EPR for an NHS trust, with focus on affordability.
Also from the region
Earlier in the week, HTN shared the announcement from East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust around its selected EPR supplier, with a cloud-ready system chosen for deployment.
Also from the wider region, we explored the digital and data landscape in the East of England here; and we interviewed Stephen Bromhall, chief digital information officer at East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
