Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare shares plans to procure EPMA system

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has shared a prior information notice regarding planned procurement of an electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) solution, with specification that the solution will be cloud-based and suitable for use within all care settings.

The supplier will be required to work as a strategic partner alongside the trust to “develop and innovate” the product, with particular focus on developing interoperability between external systems. It must offer functionality to interoperate within multiple dispensing systems based outside the trust with numerous acute partners; and must currently be used in an existing NHS trust, preferably within a mental health or community setting.

Other requirements include paperless prescribing for prescription charts; direct links with the patient demographics spine; compliance with Mental Health Act requirements relating to medication prescription and administration; ability to digitally transfer medication to multiple EPRs for inclusion within the discharge summary; smartcard authentication; organisation-specific configuration; and the ability to supply a full automated data download.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare will be holding three virtual market engagement sessions on 6, 13 and 15 November. To find out more, please click here.
