Alder Hey partners with Children’s Hospital 1 in Vietnam to develop innovation centre

Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust has signed a memorandum of understanding agreement with one of the oldest and largest hospitals in Vietnam, with the aim to “collaborate on enhancing specific clinical services” and expand their research portfolio.

Part of the agreement with Children’s Hospital 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, also focuses on developing a Children’s Hospital Healthcare Innovation Centre in Vietnam, with plans in place for this to “become the largest in South Asia”. The partnership forms as part of Alder Hey’s wider commitment to “foster mutually beneficial and practical relationships with providers of paediatric healthcare and treatment” across the globe.

Director of Alder Hey Children’s Global Health, Rafael Guerrero, signed the agreement and commented, on how it “marks the initial step of Alder Hey through its new Children’s Global Health program in contributing to our vision of a world where every child receives expert healthcare in their local community.”

Collaborations in digital healthcare: the wider trend 

Pharmacy2U recently partnered with the digital health app assessment platform, ORCHA, to create the Pharmacy2U App Hub. The aim of the collaboration is to “transform healthcare access” by putting patients in control of their health by providing access to multiple health apps all in one place.

Last month, the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust chose the cyber exposure management platform Armis to “protect its entire attack surface and manage cyber risk exposure in real time”. This partnership aligns with the trust’s aim to be the “most technological and digitally enabled hospital in the UK” as outlined in their most recent digital strategy.

Google announced a collaboration with the Institute of Women’s Cancers, with the aim to find ways in which AI tools can help “improve outcomes” for female patients with breast cancer and gynaecological cancers. The partnership was formed at the France AI Action Summit, with the aim to develop an understanding of how AI can “help better address cancer” with research focusing on the role of AI tools when predicting the progression of cancer and any potential risks of relapse.
