NHSX has appointed Irina Bolychevsky as its Director of Standards and Interoperability.
The role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer, David Turner who was recently appointed to the role and will join the unit next month.
The Director of Standards and Interoperability role has a salary over £100,000 and has responsibility for setting and enforcing standards that will underpin interoperability across the NHS and beyond it.
It includes working with national and local stakeholders, including professional bodies, vendors and standards bodies to identify, prioritise, define and enforce key standards, both technical and semantic.
Irina will work with digital transformation teams to use existing standards and to ensure that new standards are aligned with user needs. The role will have responsibility for building relationships with professional standards bodies and individual vendor organisations to ensure a strong two-way flow of information between NHSX and the UK tech sector in relation to standards development and adoption as well as working with commercial colleagues to ensure that the use of fundamental standards are fully embedded within all commercial contracts.
Irina comes from a data consultancy background and co-founded Redecentralize, an international community of decentralisation efforts and an institute tackling the common challenges of adoption, interoperability, governance and policy.
