Dr. Osman Bhatti will be discussing how getting patients to register with GP practices has always been a challenge and for patients can be a confusing process. Across North East London, they’ve enabled an unique online registration tool that will allow any patient living anywhere within North East London to get a simple standard approach to register with a GP easily and quickly.
Dr Osman Bhatti, GP and the Chief Clinical Information Officer for the North East London CCG
In this session, Big Health will share stories of how our partners in Primary Care are able to save clinician time, improve patient outcomes, save money and meet rising mental health demand – all without hiring new staff.
Simon Howard from Crescendo & Dr Simon Wallace from Nuance are teaming up for this session to demonstrate the use of Dragon Medical One Speech Recognition to save GPs 1 hour a day.
They are also joined by Dr Tim Lyttle GP & Clinical Director who is a current user of Dragon Medical One to share his experience with the software.
In primary care, most practices are now computerised with GPs using clinical software to record patient consultations and treatments along with the storage of some electronic documents. However, an area that is still very paper-based are the so-called Lloyd George (LG) envelopes which contain patient notes written by every GP in the country prior to computerisation. They’re a huge burden on almost all UK practices. How to deal with the Lloyd George records is perhaps, therefore, the last major paper challenge that primary care has yet to completely grapple with. To cut through the sales fog, we’ll look at how Lloyd George records are used, the legal requirements concerning retention, how they are moved around and cost-effective options available to finally get rid of them such that the NHS’s goal of being paper free might actually be achieved.
Dr Mala Ubhi will be discussing how digital communication between primary care teams and specialists has potential to add value for patients and clinicians involved in referral pathways, including the opportunities that the NHS electronic Referral System (e-RS) offers for this transformation.
Dr Mala Ubhi, GP, Clinical Advisor, Digital Productivity, Transformation Directorate NHSE/I, Governing Body GP Gloucestershire CCG
