A prior information notice for a tender worth an estimated £4 million has been published by 14 NHS trusts across the South West region, for “a single solution that provides a unified reporting experience for pathology”.
The solution, according to the notice, should enable the transfer and access of image data “in a bi-directional manner without compromising speed of access, and image fidelity on a near real-time basis”. It should also be accessible across the pathology departments of the participating hospitals and available remotely to support flexibility and ease of use whilst maintaining “consistent in-hospital experience from all locations”.
The trusts hope that the market engagement activity will allow them to better their understanding of the market and the options available to them with regards to building on the solution as clinical networks develop.
Participating trusts include Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; North Bristol NHS Trust; Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust; Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust; Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust; Somerset NHS Foundation Trust; Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust; University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust; University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust; Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust; and Dorset University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The estimated date for the publication of contract notice is the 31st of October 2023. The core anticipated term to run for five years, from March 2024 to 31st March 2029, with potential to extend for a further two years.
