On 1 October 2017, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) was created from the merger of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (UHSM). The MFT Group Informatics service must respond quickly and flexibly to the demands of this new organisation, ensuring that we provide multiple services fit for purpose, whilst evolving our capability and tools to deliver an ambitious transformation change programme for the future.

This exciting post will provide an opportunity for you to join a team of senior Informatics specialists reporting directly to an Associate CIO to help develop, support and drive forward the Clinical Application functions within Group Informatics.

The Technology function of group informatics is constructed into four distinct areas,

  • IT Operations
  • IT Infrastructure
  • Applications & Systems
  • Software Development

We are looking for an experienced, talented and motivated individual to lead on delivering the future strategy for clinical applications and systems across the Trust. This role is responsible for Clinical Information Systems within the Trust, ensuring the appropriate support is in place to provide seamless support as projects transition from implementation to ‘business as usual’ along with embedding the associated change management business processes, integration with other systems and improvements to information collection.

You will be take a leading role in influencing and delivering the future road map of applications and systems and will be joining the Trust at a time where we are embarking on a journey to procure a unified EPR solution across all sites therefore it is key that you can demonstrate a track record in relationship management, negotiation and stakeholder engagement.

The Trust’s Technology teams are going through a transformational programme that is focused on improving our digital maturity whilst consolidating clinical applications and systems from the legacy organisations. The Trust is also underway with the procurement of an Electronic Patient Record and the necessary transition from paper to electronic health records. We need to prepare our existing clinical applications and systems in readiness for the implementation of a new EPR platform.

To succeed in this role you will be an excellent communicator, with a proven record of managing staff, understanding of the pressures in healthcare, and show an ability to learn and respond to demands in a fast-paced technical environment. You will able to work autonomously, within the boundaries of the role, as well as, importantly, being part of a team. Please note you will be required to work across all Trust sites for this role.
