Launching a Remote High-Risk Patient service in East Kent and South West Staffordshire to support 1,132 shielded patients.

In April 2020, the DoH issued guidelines to isolate vulnerable patients to shield them from COVID-19. East-Kent and South-West Staffordshire CCGs and HN rapidly developed a remote shielding service supporting 1,132 patients in the period from May to September 2020. An example of first class NHS-SME collaboration.

In response to the significant restrictions placed on elective care due to the onset of the pandemic, Vantage Health partnered with several CCGs and Trusts to provide its AI powered Rego platform for Advice & Guidance, ensuring patients continued to receive appropriate care during this period.

Musculoskeletal services virtual appointments.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused the team to completely change the way they work. The team quickly launched a digital alternative to face-to-face appointments that was suitable for their patients and also allowed them to feel confident with their clinical decision. Feedback from both patients and clinicians was very positive.

Nutrition and Dietetics Weight Management Group Consultations.

COVID-19 presented our Nutrition and Dietetics team with a problem. They could no longer host their face-to-face weight management group, a key part of patients’ journey. The team looked for a digital solution and quickly embraced the virtual sessions, commenting that they have restored joy to their practice.

The Living With Covid Recovery Programme for patients experiencing the debilitating symptoms of ‘Long-Covid’.

The Living With Covid Recovery Programme provides remote supported NHS rehabilitation for patients with long-term symptoms following the acute phase of COVID-19 infection. Referred patients use guided treatment programmes via a smartphone/tablet app. Clinicians can tailor individual patient care and support their recovery and closely monitor many long-covid patients remotely.

Autism Video Workshops.

Prior to Covid, the Islington Social Communication Team (SCT) offered face-to-face training and psychoeducation workshops for parents and carers of children with a diagnosis of autism. When the lockdown began in March 2020, the SCT were therefore concerned about the impact of families not being able to access this support — as a result the team started to develop videos that could be shared with families.
