TPP Middle East, subsidiary of TPP, has signed a major collaboration agreement with Integrated Intelligence Services (IIS) to deliver SystmOne to the private healthcare sector across Qatar. The project is valued at £21 million (102m Qatari Riyals) over a period of five years.
In line with the ‘Qatar National Vision 2030’ to establish a more advanced healthcare system, TPP Middle East will implement an integrated electronic medical record system through SystmOne to approximately 300 primary care sites across Qatar. The system will allow medical records to be shared across the country, resulting in the standardisation of patients’ data, whilst also ensuring all patient information is collected more routinely.
This is the first major contract win for TPP’s Middle Eastern offshoot. We have been working in the region for three years alongside the region’s embassies and Healthcare UK. The Middle East region has been gradually increasing its investment in the digital healthcare sector over the last few years; the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) healthcare market alone is currently projected to grow at an annual rate of 12%, with Qatar’s spending on healthcare expected to double to $8.8 billion by the year 2020*.
One of the key healthcare issues facing the GCC region is the rise in lifestyle illnesses, such as diabetes and obesity, with 42% of adults in Qatar being obese, the highest rate in the Middle East. The chronic nature of these long-term conditions means more people will need ongoing care for complex health issues.
