System C’s Careflow care messaging solution this week became one of the first products to adopt Microsoft’s new UK cloud services.
Microsoft launched Microsoft Cloud in the UK yesterday as a service specifically targeted at government departments and regulated industries, as well as other businesses. It highlighted the MoD, the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, Capita and Careflow as inaugural customers.
Dr Jon Shaw, Director of Clinical Strategy and Design at System C, said he was delighted to be able to offer customers a UK cloud infrastructure. “The launch of Microsoft Cloud in the UK is really important because it means we can now offer NHS customers a guaranteed UK-residence of patient data, alongside the Microsoft commitment to reliability, security and privacy.
“We are moving all of our clients across to the new service and will be migrating more than 10m records over the next few weeks.”
Careflow is a secure, mobile communications tool, developed specifically for NHS and social care users, which connects clinicians and care professionals with patients. Available on smart phones, tablets and PCs, Careflow combines patient-centric individual and team-based communication with alerting, task management, hospital-at-night, care team to care team eReferrals and handover. All communication and activity is written to the patient record.
Using a cloud platform brings significant benefits to Careflow customers, including the fact that the product can easily be scaled to meet demand. It also means that users are able to access Careflow from any location, supporting communication and collaboration between community teams, for example, or across whole health and care communities.
