HTN 100: ActNow launched by NHSE, KLAS Research success for InterSystems, NHS App hits one million and Graphnet hires new Customer Director

ActNow, an e-learning tool launched by NHS England and Health Education England

NHS England and Health Education England have today launched ActNow, an e-learning tool developed for health service and care staff to help them reduce hospital delays for patients.

The new resources aim to help staff take prompt practical actions and use every opportunity to ensure our patients are cared for in the best place for them. It will cover the use of new technology, effective early discharge planning and caring for people at home.

Hilary Garratt, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for England said “We want to ensure that all patients benefit from the shortest possible stay on a ward, getting home as soon as they are fit to leave with the support they need.”

“Not only is that better for them, reducing the risk of infection or loss of mobility for older people in particular, but it also means that more beds are available for others who need care too, easing pressure on A&E and other parts of the system.”

“This new ActNow resource will help nursing and care teams in the vital role they play throughout a patient’s journey, and are ideal to include as part of team training or for professional development plans for nurses at every level, including our non-registered colleagues.”

KLAS Research ranks InterSystems among top interoperability vendors of 2019

The new KLAS®Research report, “Interoperability Platforms 2019″ has been published following thousands of interviews and performance reports.

InterSystems customers provided positive feedback for the company’s tools and technology across all report categories, including use cases, user experience, ease of maintenance and point-of-care. In the UK, HealthShare is being used in different parts of the country to transform and join up services for health and care professionals and their patients.

The NHS Coordinate My Care service has used HealthShare to help tens of thousands of patients in London to create plans for urgent and end of life care. In the West Midlands, an NHS vanguard group of four mental health trusts known as the Mental Health Alliance for Excellence, Resilience, Innovation and Training, or MERIT, has been using HealthShare in a first-of-its-kind project to help mental health patients presenting to hospitals in times of crisis. And in Lincolnshire, thousands of professionals are benefitting from a care portal that is joining up care region wide, whilst enabling faster, better informed decisions.

“I needed a system that would make sense of the chaos and empower our staff to build bridges between our different systems in a scalable, reliable, and fiscally responsible way. The tool acts as a clearinghouse for data so that we aren’t building a number of legacy pipes every time we want to connect to a new system. InterSystems is very good at trying to democratise healthcare data. The platform has been open enough that we can do that, whereas most other systems can’t,” according to a HIE Director and InterSystems customer who participated in the report.
