EMIS makes pharmacy services acquisition

EMIS Group has today announced the acquisition of the company behind the PharmOutcomes platform, Pinnacle Health Partnership LLP.

The company said the acquisition is part of the group’s strategy to drive widespread improvements in medicines management and to support pharmacy in providing more clinical services.

Over 11,000 pharmacies use the solution to manage national and locally commissioned services and more recently has been part of a successful pilot with NHS Digital to digitise flu vaccination information with GP practices.

In the pilot over 30,000 electronic messages carrying flu vaccine information were sent in the winter flu season to GPs – ensuring systems were up-to-date with live information.

The pilot involved 113 community pharmacies using PharmOutcomes and 83 GP practices using SystmOne. The service will now be expanded nationally.

EMIS said the acquisition will see closer integration between PharmOutcomes and EMIS Group’s ProScript Connect software and improvements on GP referrals to pharmacy.

Gary Warner and Kevin Noble, Managing Partners at Pinnacle Health Partnership LLP, will remain in post following the acquisition, along with their management team.

Gary said “We created PharmOutcomes to help commissioners to understand and better engage with pharmacy.  Becoming part of EMIS Group will open up a host of new opportunities for us to build on our success and to further support pharmacy in its future role. It’s an exciting time.”

“We are reassuring all PharmOutcomes customers that our services will continue unchanged and the future developments will benefit EMIS Health and non-EMIS Health customers alike.”
