Innovate UK’s £2.1 million funding for pharmacy dispensary software

Innovate UK has announced a £900k boost – which brings total funding to £2.1 million – for Invatech Health, to help develop its cloud-based pharmacy dispensary software.

The extra financial support will see the company work on new features for Titan PMR, its ‘cutting-edge’ system that aims to make dispensing medicines both safer and quicker for pharmacies.

This new boost to funds follows both an initial loan in 2018 and a grant that supported independent pharmacists’ remote working during the COVID-19 pandemic.

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) notes that Titan was ‘first accredited by the NHS in 2019’ and has since processed over 1.5 million prescriptions a month in England and Wales.

Titan, which uses a ‘fully digitised workflow and barcode technology’ gives pharmacies greater control and cuts the time required for dispensing medicines.

The UKRI also reports that the benefits of Titan have freed up more time for pharmacists to focus on other areas of patient services during the pandemic. And the latest funding will go towards the development of new features that will further support pharmacies in tackling COVID-19-related challenges.

Tariq Muhammad, CEO of Invatech Health, said: “With this additional support from Innovate UK we plan to develop a wide range of new game-changing apps, delivered as extensions on the Titan platform.

“These will help address the new and immediate challenges that pharmacies are facing as a result of COVID-19 and provide innovative solutions to support their businesses and their patients in the long term.”
