HTN Now: virtual events next week on AI, virtual wards, primary care innovation and eHubs

Next week is shaping up to be a busy one here at HTN, with webinars across 6-8 August taking in topics such as tackling bias in healthcare data and the future of virtual wards.

All HTN panel discussions and webinars take place on Microsoft Teams and are free to NHS professionals.

Panel discussion: will the reality of AI live up to the current hype, and how do you manage bias in healthcare data?
When: 6 August, 10am – 11am

In this panel we’ll be discussing what is needed to manage bias; what classifies as ‘responsible AI’; how we can ensure AI is inclusive and equitable; how can AI support underserved populations; the deployment AI into the NHS; and how AI can support health and care for the future shifting from reactive to proactive care. We’ll be joined by Shanker Vijayadeva (GP lead for digital transformation in the London region for NHS England), Ricardo Baptista Leite (CEO at HealthAI – The Global Agency for Responsible AI in Health), and Puja Myles (director for MHRA Clinical Practice Research Datalink).

Panel discussion: innovation in primary care
When: 7 August, 10am – 11am

Here, conversion will focus on current innovation in primary care as well as how primary care can accelerate the adoption of innovation. We’re joined by Sam Hall (director of primary and community care and mental health digital services for Digital Health and Care Wales), Liz Leggott (project management for South Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub), and Bex Cottey (business manager at Conisbrough GPs). Sam, Liz and Bex will discuss their experiences with digital solutions and innovations, modern general practice, patient engagement, tackling inequalities and more.

Webinar: the blueprint for Kent and Medway ICB’s health hub
When: 7 August, 1pm – 2pm

NHS England Blueprinting Team and Kent and Medway ICB present an overview of the Medway & Swale Health Hub, as covered in the Kent and Medway eHub programme blueprint. Donna Rowell, director of transformation in Medway and Swale, joins us to discuss how the ICB reviewed alternative methodologies to manage the high volume of digital demand on local GP practices around manage online consultations, and how they developed the eHub programme.

Panel discussion: learnings from virtual wards, and where next?
When: 8 August, 10am – 11am

For this panel we’ll be discussing capacity, occupancy, learnings and approaches, as well the measuring of value and benefits for virtual ward programmes. Joined by Heather Young (virtual ward programme manager for Nottingham University Hospitals) and Christina Prada (virtual ward service lead for Northampton General Hospital), we’ll explore how to scale virtual wards, maximise programmes, best practices, technical aspects to consider and the future for remote patient care.
