Ramsay Health Care UK implements workforce app

Ramsay Health Care UK has implemented RLDatix’s Loop workforce app as part of its workforce evolution project.

Taking to LinkedIn, Ramsay Health Care UK’s head of talent acquisition and HR systems, Kevin Feely, welcomed the “significant milestone” in the company’s workforce programme, praising the “exceptional rostering and project team”, and promising further updates on progress.

According to the Loop website, the app offers features for employees including viewable personal and team rosters, scheduled activities, entering leave requests, requesting bank shifts, logging call outs, clocking in and out, and more. Communication features also cover two-way communications and personalised newsfeeds, surveys and polls, with the ability for staff to be added to groups to enable chat with teammates and connections with workforce groups.

The website also highlights case studies from organisations such as James Paget Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, and Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust.

Digital in empowering the health and care workforce

For a HTN Now panel discussion, we were joined by expert panellists including Dr Penny Kechagioglou, CCIO and deputy CMO at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust; Stuart Dures, digital skills development manager at Greater Manchester Mental Health; Dan Chilcott, client enablement director at Patchwork Health; and Sally Mole, senior digital programme manager – digital portfolio delivery team at The Dudley Group.

Our panellists considered some of the key determinants of successful NHS workforce transformation, looking at how best to drive buy-in and support the workforce, and noting challenges and barriers to transformation. Success also relies on looking at the ways technology can be used to support staff and support transformation, Penny shared, giving an example of how UHCW has used AI to streamline routine tasks like answering calls and responding to queries for its HR staff. “It’s about how can we ensure that we don’t use highly skilled staff to do mundane tasks.” she said, “so we can ensure our workforce works at the top of their scope of practice.”

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust recently opened a market engagement exercise for the procurement of a “suite of workforce management solutions” to be used across multiple trusts within the region. The trust first aims to “gather industry feedback to inform the development of service specifications and commissioning strategies”, before they move on to procure a solution that will “enhance operational efficiency and optimise staffing resources” across a number of North West London NHS trusts. This includes exploring e-rostering for staff scheduling, a bank and agency booking platform for temporary staffing, a digital platform to support job planning and a rota design and compliance system. According to the trust, adding these solutions will reportedly “support seamless workforce coordination, enhance efficiency, and drive improvements in service delivery” while also helping to ensure “high-quality patient care”.
