CCube Solutions, a specialist in supporting healthcare providers with electronic document management tools, has announced it has achieved a milestone of capturing, managing, and delivering 50 billion images of NHS paper documents.
A company tackling the NHS paperless agenda, CCube Solutions said its solutions now host over 450 million records, totalling 50 billion pages. Its long-standing customers include St Helens & Knowsley NHS Trust, Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, North Bristol NHS Trust and North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust, who have made significant progress on their paperless journeys.
During the past year, the company has taken the solution to the cloud, with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust upgrading its electronic document management system from on-premise to the cloud.
The trust utilised the CCube Solutions platform over several years to manage and deliver patient electronic records around the organisation, with the system deployed locally. It has now moved to a Software as a Service EDRM model to provide greater flexibility and access to the system. The trust has also extended the use of the system into non-clinical operational areas.
Whilst North Bristol NHS Trust is one of the customers that chose a scan-on-demand model, gradually digitising records, which now totals 55 million digital patient records.

The company’s ‘invest to save’ initiative cites the system paying for itself and reducing operating costs, within 3 years.
The latest trust to join its digital patient records programme is Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The trust plans to provide clinicians and health professionals with instant, secure access to a comprehensive, easily searchable patient history where and when needed – including across multiple locations at the same time. This, the trust said, will enable improved clinician decision-making and improved patient service delivery.
